Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a poorly documented 1621 celebration at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. Pilgrims and Puritans who began emigrating from England in the 1620s and 1630s carried the tradition of Days of Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving with them to New England. Several days of Thanksgiving were held in early New England history that have been identified as the "First Thanksgiving", including Pilgrim holidays in Plymouth in 1621 and 1623, and a Puritan holiday in Boston in 1631. According to historian Jeremy Bangs, director of the Leiden American Pilgrim Museum, the Pilgrims may have been influenced by watching the annual services of Thanksgiving for the relief of the siege of Leiden in 1574, while they were staying in Leiden. In later years, religious thanksgiving services were declared by civil leaders such as Governor Bradford, who planned a thanksgiving celebration and fast in 1623. The practice of holding an annual harvest festival like this did not become a regular affair in New England until the late 1660s.When I was growing up Thanksgiving was just a day we ate very delicious food.As I got older I realized that it was more to it.I really like this holiday is because I love to eat.It is also Ironic that sometimes my birthday is on this day.

The Legalization of Marijuana

Is Legalizing Marijuana such a good idea? Most people of The United States focus was upon the election at the time ,wondering who would be thier next president.While others was focused on a more insignificant issue.Referendums passed in Washington and Colorado, but not in Oregon.This could cause criminal activities to increase,Even though Referendums were passed ,this is far from over.I am sure that there are many people that would like to debate the legalization of Marijuana."There are still federal hurdles to overcome,"for Washington and Colorado. This could cause criminal activities to increase,Does this now give drug dealers the right to sell thier product?It seems that the only reason drug are illegal in the first place is because the country cannot benefit financially.I would agree that some citizens need it for medical conditions ,but even that could have a negative turn out seeing what happens with perscription pills.Personally ,I dont know why it took so long for people to take action,for years people have been considering making this plant legal.I dont think nothing is wrong with it,If it was possible I would vote "yes" to legalizing marijuana.Some say it kills brain cells,but others cannot agree ,they would say it opens the mind and brings the genius out of an individual.Marijuana isnt a treat,the real threat to society is the hard drugs are:Heroin,Cocaine,PCP,Meth,& ETC.Overall ,I would say that it isnt a great idea, people still are treats because they would would rob,steal,& kill for this drug.

Mr.Campbell

James Edward Campbell ! I sure wish I had that name,On my Facebook page I am known as James Campbell Jr. This is my father's name,I look up to my father,I love my father.I view him as what they call a "Real Nigga",Even though he has made mistakes in his life he is still one of my heroes.I despise the name Dae'mond ,but at the sametime I love it because it is unique and like no other. The real reason I dont like the name Dae'mond is because I am not named after my real father.I will forever be reminded of the years of my life that I saw my mother being abused.She try to explain to me that I should love my name ,but I really dont understand why I should be proud knowing where my name originated from.I was thinking about changing it,but I think I will keep Dae'mond Quencel Ivey.

Too Young For The Commitment

          The last thing on my mind is marriage.Marriage is when people are ready to make a commitment to each other for the rest of their life.At this point of time in my life my heart is in my pants.I want to be young,wild,and free;Just party and live my life.The most important reason is that I am not ready to take on the responsibilities of a husband.I am still a confused child ,Am I ready for marriage?No,I am a long way from being ready for that commitment.
         To begin,at this point of time in my life my heart is in my pants.The mind of a teenage boy or even a grown man can be corrupted by hormones.At that point the only thing that is important is sexual satisfaction.This type of behavior in a marriage is not prohibited.It would almost be like setting your relationship up for failure.It is best to wait until the time is right for marriage and kids.
       Additionally,I am young ,wild,and free;I want to party and live my life.I want to go on dates with whoever I want.I want to stay out with friends until the sun come up.I want to get wasted and high at the same damn time.If I had a wife and kids I cant just think about myself.I would have to be a good influence upon my children .I would have to be faithful to my wife.I am too young to be trapped in that cage.
      Furthermore,The most important reason is that I am not ready to take on the responsibilities of a husband.When I have a wife and kids I would want to be financially stable.I would want to be a man that my son can look up to and be influenced by.I want to be able to treat my daughter like a princess.My wife would be my queen and treated like royalty.I want to be labeled as the best husband and the best father in the world.
     In Conclusion,Marriage is not wrong at all ,but it is a very big step.It takes time and a lot of thinking.You have to think of  how would take on the challenge.The challenge of taking care of your family,to put them before yourself.I am too young to think of these type of things,but trust it have crossed my mind, how I would have to grow up in a hurry.Why would I make a commitment ,but let my family be victims of a broken promise.
       

Student Loan Forgiveness

Trillions of dollars are spent around the world for an college education.Most of this money comes from Student loans ,these loans are provided to help with tuition,books,and living expenses for students.After taking student loans and finishing college many people break their back to pay off the loans borrowed.No matter how difficult it becomes to pay the loans off  students cannot file for bankruptcy ,the students will be held responsible and rising interest rates and over baring fees becomes a financial crisis for some.The people who are unemployed are helpless .The people who have illnesses are powerless.Is this issue morally correct?

   This all may change,This year Obama has proposed an Student Loan Act .It gives former and future students that are unable to payoff student loans because of poor luck financially a break or lighten the weight on their shoulders.The bill provides full loan forgiveness for current borrowers who have paid 10 percent of their discretionary income for 10 years.Future students have the chance to benefit from this bill as well,and will not be under extreme pressure to pay off student loans.On his TV show Mike Huckabee says "It is not all about jobs ,its about people." These are not just students, but these are people and people have issues and setbacks that cause them to not be able to contribute to paying back their loans.I think that the students that are in debt because of student loans deserve forgiveness .
   

Love or Lust ?

Is It love or lust ? Is what I feel a sign of ignorance ? Well I don't know ,my mom always told me I was too young to be in love.I think she was right , when I have a girlfriend or in a relationship the girl always bring up love.I just be shocked and I don't know what to say .I always told myself that I wouldn't say it back if I didn't mean what I say.So I just say "Awww Oh really " Then I change the subject ;I know they get mad ,but its not about how they feel its all about my emotions.Its different when I talk to my friends and family because I do love them as friends ,but when I brought that to the attention to my friend Calvin ,He said I could still love my girlfriend as just a friend ,but just not the way she think .That could be very misleading ,I'd rather tell the truth about my feelings ,instead of playing with her emotions.I will be honest I don't know what Love is ;Its just a feeling you get ,when someone say they love ,how do you know if they are telling the truth? Does It have something to do with faith? When my mother or family say they love me I believe them;I don't give it any second thought,I just believe them.

 Lust ,I never knew what people meant when they said that word ,but I came to the assumption that It means you think you're in love ,but its really not what you think just a veil over your eyes.Some older people try to tell the younger generation that love isn't what we think it is ,but we just ignore the warning .After being disappointed we are labeled as young & dumb ,but you just live and you learn.I think I have been in lust many times before, I cant wait until I find out what real love is about.Love or Lust,What is love ?
